Symbol of Life of Perla Arroyo in the Jes\u00fas Reyes Heroles House of Culture, Francisco Sosa 202, Santa Catarina, Coyoac\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p>We are waiting for you.<\/p>\n<p>Perla Arroyo is a visual artist who has focused her attention on pre-Hispanic representations, particularly those of its symbol par excellence, the skull. For the ancient Mexicans, the world, life and the idea we have of both manifests dually: feminine-masculine, life-death, sacred-profane.<\/p>\n<p>These hallmarks of our culture can be seen in the Mexican Skull series, made up of six sculptures of notable beauty, cast in bronze, dedicated to honoring symbols, characters and deities that synthesize the best of our history:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Tehuana\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Xoloitzcuintle\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Coatlicue\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Coyolxauhqui\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><i>Diego y Frida\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Mexican Skull exhibition.<\/strong> <em>Symbol of Life<\/em> <strong>will open on October 16 at 7 p.m. and will remain open to the public until November 10 of this year.<\/strong> These are authentic jewels that serve as portraits of icons of pre-Hispanic, viceregal and contemporary Mexico. Arroyo has dedicated years of research to the creation of these works, rediscovering key aspects, some unexpected and others unknown, of figures committed to our cultural history, granting them artistic vitality and critical relevance.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, for the enjoyment of attendees, and convinced that healthy recreation is not at odds with the pleasure of learning about our history and traditions, activities will take place that will complement the experience of the visit. In a very relevant way they stand out:<\/p>\n<p>The presentation of the book Mexican Skull. Symbol of Life, on October 24 in the Morelos room of the Jes\u00fas Reyes Heroles House of Culture; and<br \/>\nThe practical workshop aimed at artists, students, and the public of all ages, where the craft of sculpture will be explored and the creative processes that allowed Perla Arroyo to create the collection will be shown.<\/p>\n<p>The skull has been a recurring symbol in the history of humanity, reflecting concern about the transcendence and immanence of death. In Mexico, this archetype has achieved the status of a national symbol, especially during the Day of the Dead festivities. She has a degree in Design from the School of Design of the Institute of Fine Arts and has a Master&#8217;s Degree in Visual Arts from the San Carlos Academy of UNAM. In addition, he studied Hispanic Language and Literature, knowledge that has influenced the tone and depth of his artistic work. Currently, she is a Cultural Advisor at the Mayor&#8217;s Office of Coyoac\u00e1n, in addition to being a teacher, researcher and cultural entrepreneur.
