A Fair That Looks to Women Authors

FILEM reaches its 12th edition, October 16 to 24, under the slogan “Más autoras, más mundos” (“More women authors, more worlds”). This edition seeks to give visibility to women writers and to open a conversation about their work. Perla Arroyo takes part as the author of an artist’s book that offers a constructive and feminine reading of death, and as director of the International Women’s Thought Festival (FIPEM), whose first edition took place in 2026 in Tlalpan, Mexico City.

Who Joins the Presentation

Diana Alarcón Elizondo trained as a communicator and works as a chronicler by vocation, with 28 years of telling stories from Mexico. Her work has centered on Mexico City’s emblematic places and on the figures who give the country its identity. She contributes to The Point and Conciencia Femenina, and hosts a monthly city-chronicle segment on the program Autotrend, on Radio Fórmula.

The Book

The book is written in Spanish and English. It gathers the catalog of the Calavera Mexicana sculptural series and a historical survey of the skull in Mexican art. It has been presented at major forums such as the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), FILAH, Filco and FILIP Puebla, among others. It won first place in the Art Book category at the 45th edition of the Premio Nacional de las Artes Gráficas 2025 (National Graphic Arts Award).

Meanwhile, the sculptural series begins its itinerant exhibition in the United States in Phoenix, Arizona.
