Exhibition at Casa Marie José and Octavio Paz
31 de October de 2023

This iconic venue showcases the work of Arroyo Calavera Mexicana in an atmosphere of poetry and art.

As we read poetry about death written by Mexican poets, we will be able to appreciate the artist’s exquisitely crafted work.

In Mexico, death and the skull—as its symbol—have multiple meanings that have been culturally enriched by diversity and the passage of time.

On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, as part of the Day of the Dead celebrations, visual artist Perla Arroyo—accompanied by a poetry reading on the theme of death, featuring verses by Nezahualcóyotl, Octavio Paz, Xavier Villaurrutia, and Aurora Reyes, among others—will showcase this syncretism through the sculpture exhibition “Mexican Skull: Symbol of Life.”

We set out to make this video as a record of the event so that we could share the cultural experience with the general public.
